Rejecting Manufactured Disconnection: A Vision for 2025 👁️

A Vision for 2025

Hi Reader,

A happy 2025 to you all. I hope the beginning of the year has been treating you as well as it can be. And, a warm welcome to those who have joined the newsletter recently. It is an honor that you're here, and I have lots in store for the year. Read on for what I'm thinking about the year ahead, and how we can all be a little more connected through it all.

Shifting Focus: From Learning to Creativity

2024 was a year of learning for me. I took lots of courses on group facilitation, authentic relating, and leadership. In doing this I somewhat overladed myself with learning. I'm shifting this focus in 2025.

I'm drawing from all I learned last year and putting the majority of my efforts into creating. This includes new resources, events, and speaking engagements in my 3 main focus areas of connection, leadership, and solidarity. I'm feeling excited and inspired to try new things and experiment with creation.

Speaking of experiments, I'm drawing inspiration for a yet to be released book called Tiny Experiments, where I'm taking a lot of my ideas and creating experiments to try to best understand how my creations are resonating. As always, I'm all ears for any feedback or thoughts you have.

Rejecting Manufactured Disconnection

If you've followed me at all recently, you know that one of the biggest problems I see in society today is what I'm calling "manufactured disconnection". This concept draws from that of manufactured insecurity" which came out of one of my favorite reads of last year: The Age of Insecurity which speaks of the systems in place that keep us scrounging for security through individualism and materialism rather than working together for more sweeping changes that will help us all.

You can read more about my thoughts in my latest blog post.

Upcoming Events

I believe that we live in a society the encourages blame over responsibility. In my opinion, blame saps our energy, adds to our overall disconnection, and distracts us from actually solving the problems in front of us.

Next Thursday, February 6th at 4p pacific, join for for a workshop where we review the causes and impacts of blame in our culture, and how you can practice the leadership skill of responsibility to improve connection and collaboration in your life.

This is a leadership skill that anyone can use to make a big impact in your life and those around you. I hope to see you there.

One Thing You Can Try in Your Life

One of the biggest areas of improvement I see in rejecting manufactured disconnection is simply the way we talk to each other. When conversations get tense and our emotions take over, discussions can quickly devolve to the point of no return.

In seeing this, I created a guide called "Connecting Through Conflict". It is a framework for better conversations that I think anyone could use to help better prepare for, and engage in, tough conversations.

I just spent the last few weeks updating my guide with more detail. As part of being subscribed to this newsletter, you get direct and early access to this content.

I'm wondering if any of these suggestions resonate with you. Download below.

That's all for now. Thanks so much for reading! At any time, you can see my latest writing on my blog, join one of my groups, or learn how you can work with me directly.

This journey is my attempt at making our relationships stronger and our world a little more connected; I’m grateful you’re part of it.

Let's keep in touch! Don’t hesitate to reply to any emails or the social links below with your questions or thoughts—I’d love to hear from you.

Thanks again for being here, and I look forward to staying connected.
